A DPS chase ends with an accident with children in the truck

LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – A Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) pursuit on Tuesday afternoon, October 30, ended with the discovery of 11 undocumented people, including two children, found in the trunk of a car. The pursuit began in the area of ​​Mines Road and ended on San Bernardo Avenue when DPS blocked the car.

Some of the migrants suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital. DPS Sergeant Erick Estrada noted that human smuggling cases often increase during the holiday and election seasons.

The driver was arrested and may be charged with people smuggling. DPS has not yet released the driver’s name.

A pursuit led by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) ended before 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, at the intersection of Chicago Street and San Bernardo Avenue. The Border Guard also appeared on site.

DPS reported that children were found in the truck involved in the accident. Rescue teams arrived at the scene and provided aid to the injured.

Witnesses saw people being taken away on stretchers and loaded into ambulances. Officers are on site directing traffic as the cleanup continues.
