Another person charged in connection with an April 2023 bar fight that ended with a shooting at the Geneva Bar & Grill was sentenced to probation, community service and probation on Wednesday after pleading guilty to disorderly conduct .

Mikayla Jean Olson, 24, was initially charged with one count of fifth-degree assault and one count of third-degree riot in the case, but she pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in August as part of a plea agreement.

The petition requested, among other things, a suspension of the prison sentence for 60 days, no additional sentence, a one-year suspension and conditions of staying away from bars/liquor stores and staying away from a bar in Geneva.

Footage obtained from the bar shows co-defendant Desiree Nadine Klemp, 29, started a fight by throwing a large drink and a cup in the face of several people standing at the bar after a song she paid for was played on the jukebox. A general dispute broke out inside. The video shows Olson throwing a drink at a person who was being attacked by others.

The fight eventually spilled outside, where Dustin Smitty reportedly fired shots into the air in the parking lot and then fired at a vehicle that was driving away. He pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree assault, one for each of the two people in the vehicle who were shot at. In December, he was sentenced to three years and three months in prison.

Robert James Smitty pleaded guilty to fifth-degree assault in that case and was sentenced in January to one year of supervised probation.

Klemp also pleaded guilty in August to an amended charge of disorderly conduct – fighting or fighting, and is scheduled for sentencing on October 30.
