Woman killed, several people injured in crash on I-11, highway closed for hours

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – One woman is dead and several people injured in a wrong-way crash that closed a major highway Friday morning.

According to Nevada State Police, a two-vehicle crash was reported just before 3 a.m. in the northbound lane of I-11 (formerly called US 95). Northbound traffic was diverted off Boulder Highway. The closure is expected to last several hours. Southbound lanes remain open.

Trooper Shawn Haggstrom said a woman, who was a passenger in the vehicle traveling south in the northbound lanes, died at the scene and several other people were taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

State Police are urging drivers to seek alternate routes to avoid delays. This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
