A 14-year-old girl dies from a gunshot wound after being found in a home in Central Falls, RI

PROVIDENCE – A 14-year-old girl died from her injuries, police said Friday Officers found her with a gunshot wound in Central Falls, RI house on Thursday morning.

First responders went to 22 Earle St., according to Central Falls Police Maj. Christopher Reed. around 8:50 a.m. after reporting an unconscious woman.

There, officers and firefighters found the teenager, who was taken to Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence in critical condition, Reed said in a statement.

On Friday morning, Reed told reporters that the girl had died from her injuries.

“The department offers its sincerest condolences to the family,” Reed said.

He added that there is no threat to the entire community, but he is unable to provide additional information about the incident.

“The investigation is developing rapidly and the release of any further information at this time could be detrimental to the case,” he said in a statement. “As soon as we can share more information, we will update.”

On Thursday, authorities asked witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to call police at (401) 727-7411 or the TIPS hotline at (401) 727-7420. According to the police, all calls will remain anonymous.
