A Florida woman told the man she was ordering a pizza. She was the one who called 911 to report the sexual assault, deputies say

PIERSON, Florida. – Volusia County deputies arrested a man they say committed sexual assault last weekend. They say they learned of the attack when she called 911 and pretended to order a pizza.

Luis Hernandez-Moncayo, 27, was arrested Saturday in Pierson. Deputies say they found him on the ground, on top of the woman, and took him into custody.

The victim told deputies that she and Hernandez-Moncayo were friends and were hanging out and having drinks. She said Hernandez-Moncayo took cocaine, which deputies said changed his behavior.

The victim felt something bad was going to happen, so she called 911 and acted like she was ordering a pizza, officials said. The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office says this is a known tactic that can be used as a signal that someone is in danger.

After speaking, the victim said Hernandez-Moncayo grabbed her and tried to sexually assault her several times and tried to choke her twice.

Hernandez-Moncayo told deputies the sexual intercourse was consensual.

A sheriff’s office report said the woman refused to be taken to the hospital.

Hernandez-Moncayo was charged with battery by strangulation, false imprisonment and attempted sexual battery. He was taken to the Volusia County Jail.
