Expert Bo Nix, Justin Herbert, Troy Franklin Proposal Bets: We recommend props +150

Oregon’s rookie hookup for the Denver Broncos is gaining momentum. Bo Nix and Troy Franklin came together two weeks ago to catch the wide receiver’s first NFL TD pass. In the next game, after a breathtaking victory over New Orleans, they continued to establish themselves as a passing pair.

Another former Ducks star, Justin Herbert, enters NFL Week 8 with a thinned pass-catching corps heading into the matchup with the Saints. The Chargers scored 15 points in a loss to Arizona and haven’t scored more than 16 points in a game in 2024.

Nix and Franklin will try to take advantage of a prop-friendly draw against a lowly Carolina Panthers team. We could see another productive look at the featured duo of Denver’s future. Here are the Week 8 NFL props for Oregon’s graduates.

This matchup gives Nix a chance to take advantage of an injury-plagued team on both sides of the ball. Carolina’s defense has struggled with health issues all season and the absence of QB Andy Dalton won’t help.

Carolina has thrown 14 TD passes to QBs this year, which ranks third in the NFL. With Bryce Young at QB for the Panthers, Denver’s defense should dominate, providing favorable field position and repeated opportunities to go up against the worst defense in the league in terms of points allowed (34.7 per game).

Nix didn’t record any passing TDs against the Saints because he wasn’t needed for it as the defense dominated. In the two games leading up to last week, Nix passed for two TDs in each game. He should be able to pass Young, which doesn’t seem difficult for most QBs.

Best bet on Justin Herbert: Under 197.5 passing yards

At first glance, this may seem like a contrarian prop game. The Saints rank 28th in passes allowed to opposing QBs. Herbert had a season-high 349 yards rushing against Arizona.

However, heading into Week 7, Herbert had failed to pass for 180 yards in four of the five games he played. Now, with WR availability issues, he may simply not have the ammunition needed to succeed, even in a seemingly friendly matchup.

Quentin Johnston (ankle) and Ladd McConkey (hip) missed practice this week. DJ Chark (groin) has not played yet this season and has had limited practice. Tight end Will Dissly (shoulder) was also absent from practice, and Hayden Hurst (groin) was limited.

Even if some of the bruised players are able to get back on the field, Los Angeles’ passing game was poor when WRs and TEs were involved. The Chargers may let their defense decide the outcome and won’t be able to rely on Herbert.

Best bet on Troy Franklin: Over 28.5 receiving yards

Franklin has become more and more involved offensively over the last two games and should be able to get rid of this prop quite easily. He had 81 yards in the last two games, including 50 in Week 7.

Denver’s fourth-round pick in the 2024 draft is a mix of Sean Payton’s attraction to some of his youngest playmakers on offense. Franklin had a season-high five receptions and six targets in Week 7.

Over the past four weeks, the Panthers have ranked 25th in yards allowed to opposing WRs.
