Jawahar Singh, Indore Police Constable, dies in an accident while taking care of a cow | Latest India News

Indore Superintendent of Police ‘Yamraj’, Chief Constable Jawahar Singh Yadav, died of electrocution while taking care of his cow, which also died in the accident.

Yadav rose to fame during the COVID-19 pandemic for dressing up as Yamraj, the Hindu god of death, to spread awareness and urge people to stay home and get vaccinated.

He also wore the Yamraj costume in campaigns reminding two-wheelers to wear helmets, which made him a familiar face and his photos and videos went viral on social media platforms.

Yadav was tending his cow when the mishap occurred

At the time of his death, Yadav was sent to the crime branch. He was keeping the cow in a small pen near his house where the incident took place on Friday morning while he was bathing the cow, India TV reported. HT cannot independently verify this information

A passer-by noticed the unconscious man and called the police. He was taken to Choithram Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His body has been sent for post-mortem and Juni Indore police are investigating.

In another accident, four people were killed and three others injured when an SUV collided with an oil tanker in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain district on Friday, police said. The victims were returning to Indore from a pilgrimage to Ajmer in Rajasthan when the accident occurred, Khachrod police officer Dhansingh Nalvaya told reporters.

The accident occurred near Bedavanya village on the Jaora-Nagda road, about 50 km from the district headquarters. Nalvaya added that the injured were taken to Indore for further treatment.

The police initiated proceedings against the tanker driver, who fled the scene after the accident.
