Man arrested for allegedly stealing a Bobcat skid steer and flatbed trailer

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Sparks Police have arrested a man on suspicion of stealing a Bobcat skid steer from a north Reno construction site and a flatbed trailer.

On November 1, Sparks Police officers were called to a construction site just east of the Nugget Casino after workers reported the theft of a 2022 Bobcat skid steer. The Bobcat was valued at $72,000.

Detectives were able to identify the suspect and found the skid steer on a flatbed trailer in a residential neighborhood in northwest Reno. The trailer was also found to have been stolen from a business in Sparks around the same day as the Bobcat theft.

On November 11, Reno police officers unknowingly arrested the same suspect. After the initial arrest, he became uncooperative and fled from officers in his vehicle.

Detectives then narrowed their search to a business complex in Fallon on November 20, ultimately apprehending the suspect at Dotty’s Casino.

The killer was identified as 30-year-old Jason Pineda. Pineda was charged with auto theft, two counts of possession of stolen property, conspiracy to commit grand theft auto, grand larceny, conspiracy to commit grand larceny, evading a crime, hindering and resisting arrest and having a suspended registration.
