The raffle at the Shepparton Club was music to We Listen’s ears

We Listen offers monthly meetings for people bereaved by suicide, providing members with a safe and supportive space to share their experiences without stigma or judgment.

It aims to help participants process emotions in a community that understands their lived experiences.

On Friday November 15, the Shepparton Club proudly presented a check to Steve “Neffy” Neff, founder of We Listen, who expressed heartfelt gratitude for the community’s generosity.

“It was a special evening and a great night for everyone,” Neffy said.

“There were many conversations about mental health and the charity raffle, giving community members affected by suicide the opportunity to speak up, be heard and talk about their loved ones who have lost their lives to suicide.”

Funds raised will support the group’s efforts to expand its reach and connect with more people in the community.

“This will enable We Listen to expand our monthly suicide support group meetings and suicide prevention community walks in 2025 to other local areas including Echuca, Benalla and Cobram,” Neffy said.

“Funds will also go towards creating a mental health safe space/center for our youth to use.”

In a statement on its website, Shepparton Club celebrated the success of the event and the opportunity to recognize the hard work and dedication of the volunteers involved in the cause.

“This donation will greatly support the efforts of the Suicide Support Group to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need,” the club said.
