1 person dead, 2 teenagers injured in shooting during Halloween party in Akron

Akron police are investigating a shooting that left an 18-year-old dead and two other teenagers injured Saturday night at what police believe was a Halloween party.

At approximately 10:46 p.m., police responded to a home in the 100 block of Paris Avenue and found an 18-year-old woman who had been critically injured by a gunshot wound, police said.

Officers found a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl who had also been shot. Both suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Police said the two fled the home after being shot.

Police said all three teenagers were taken to a nearby hospital, where the 18-year-old was later pronounced dead. The other two are expected to recover from their injuries.

Police reported that during the party, an unknown man pulled out a gun and fired shots inside the house, injuring the victims.

Officers detained the 18-year-old after a short foot pursuit and recovered the gun he had thrown while running away, police said. However, it is unclear what role, if any, he played in the shooting. He was booked into the Summit County Jail and charged with carrying a concealed weapon
obstructing official matters.
