National Tree Week: Over 4,000 planted across East Yorkshire

National Tree Week: Over 4,000 planted across East Yorkshire

East Riding of Yorkshire councilor Paul West said: “It’s great to see the Humber Forest team educating the public about trees and helping people get involved in volunteering.

“Trees provide numerous benefits to the environment and local communities, so I encourage interested landowners to contact the Humber Forest team to find out how they can get involved.”

More than 100 landowners in Hull, East Yorkshire and north Lincolnshire are planting trees on their land as part of the Humber Forest scheme.

The costs are covered by government subsidies, and the trees are planted and cared for by volunteers.

Projects include creating an orchard for schools, adding trees to golf courses and planting park-style farms to provide shade and shelter for animals.
