Upset by the seizure of her house by a financial company, a woman commits suicide in Bundi – India TV

A 23-year-old woman committed suicide after employees of a private finance company closed her house for defaulting on her loan in Rajasthan’s Bundi district. On Sunday, police said the woman allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison, upset by the bank’s actions.

Divya Meena was taken to Maharao Bhim Singh Hospital in Kota after consuming poison and died during treatment late Saturday.

According to a police official, Aavas Finance Limited employees accompanied by police locked her house following a seizure order issued by a local court. The incident took place on Saturday afternoon in the Teerath area of ​​Keshoraipatan.

Keshoraipatan Circle officer Devesh Bharadwaj said, “Divya’s father Mahesh Meena had borrowed Rs 7 lakh from the company in 2021 to build a house, but he defaulted in repaying the loan due to family crisis.”

Bharadwaj, however, said Mahesh made 17 installments before he defaulted.

According to the CO, the finance company followed legal procedures for foreclosure and notified the borrower in advance after being served with the notice.

The workers reached Mahesh’s house on Saturday and sealed it in his presence. Divya, who was working in a nearby agricultural field at the time, returned home around 4 p.m. and found the house sealed, the officer said.

The woman ends her life in a locked house

Unable to bear the shock, Divya entered the house through a neighbor’s roof and consumed poison, most likely a pesticide, he said.

He added that neighbors and family members took her to hospital, where she died during treatment.

“Harassment from a financial company”

Her father alleged harassment by a financial company and based on his complaint, a case was registered under section 108 (abetment to suicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act against company employee Arjun Malav and others, said a circle officer.

He added that the body was handed over to family members after the autopsy took place on Sunday. Police said Divya’s mother also died by suicide around a year and a half ago, allegedly due to stress related to the same loan.
