Woman from St. Thomas faces assault charges in connection with a fight that police say involved two people at the city’s Santa Claus parade and a disagreement over blocking the view of one family.

According to the police in St. Thomas in a Sunday press release, a 62-year-old from St. Thomas was arrested during the annual parade on Saturday evening.

Police say a dispute broke out between the woman and another spectator over obstructing the family’s view. The woman punched the victim in the face, knocking him to the ground, police in St. Thomas.

The police were called and the suspect was arrested. The woman, whose name was not made public by police, was taken to police headquarters and released with a future court date, St. Paul police said. Thomas.

Three people injured in crash near Brantford

One person was airlifted to hospital and two others were injured after two cars collided Saturday afternoon south of Brantford, provincial police said.

Police and emergency services, including Ornge Air Ambulance, were called to a crash involving an SUV and a pickup truck at Villa Nova Road and Concession 2 Townsend around 12:38 a.m. Saturday, Norfolk County OPP said in a news release Sunday.

Villa Nova Road and Concession 2 Townsend, a rural border crossing controlled by a stop sign at Concession 2 Townsend, were closed for approximately six hours for the police investigation.

A man accused of assaulting a child

Police in St. Thomas says the man was charged with one count of assault after a child reported violence at school.

Police say that on Friday morning, an 11-year-old child reported to school that he had been attacked by his father the previous evening. According to the police in St. Thomas in a Saturday press release, the unidentified child suffered minor injuries.

The Family and Children’s Department was contacted and informed the police about the incident. Police said the department’s criminal investigation division took over the investigation.

The child’s father, whose identity has not been released, was arrested and charged with one count of assault.
