The “Warriors” actor was 75 years old.

David Harris, actor known for playing Cochise in the 1979 cult classic Warriorsdied. He was 75 years old.

Harris died of cancer on Friday at his home in New York, said his daughter Davina Harris New York Times.

Based on the 1965 novel of the same title by Sol Yurick. Warriors told the story of a New York street gang tasked with traveling from the Bronx to Coney Island after being framed for murder. Harris’ Cochise was a gang member with a provocative fashion sense, punctuated by a heavy turquoise necklace and headband.

The film was met with criticism upon release, but later gained a rabid fan base and currently has an audience rating of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes.

“I’ve been to Hong Kong, I’ve been to the Philippines, I’ve been to Tokyo,” Harris said in a 2019 interview. “I have made many films, but when I get off the plane, people go. This is the guy from Warriors

Harris appeared in films throughout the ’80s, ’90s and 2000s, including ’80s Brubaker1984 A soldier’s story80’s Mercury and 2015 James White. He appeared in episodes on television Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, NYPD Blue, ER, Profiler AND Mike Hammer: Private Investigator.

David Dominic Harris was born on June 18, 1949 in New York, the son of his daughter. He attended the High School of Performing Arts, where his English teacher suggested he enroll in the theater department.

Harris’ first starring role on screen was in the Emmy-nominated 1976 television movie Judge Horton and the Scottsboro boyS. In 1977 he was cast in a play Interviewstarring Meryl Streep and John Lithgow. Just a few years later, Harris’ agent contacted him Warriors director Walter Hill.

Harris is survived by his sister, mother, three siblings and two grandchildren.
