Damage to Harold’s Restaurant is extensive after a red pickup truck crashed into the restaurant’s lobby.

Some ABC7 customers she spoke to described being hit before they heard screams.

“We were getting in the car and we heard a big old ‘POW!'” said witness Nina Davis. “People are screaming, shouting, running.”

The sound was unmistakable.

“We were both standing here,” witness Robert Davis said. “We just got our food and then went out back to get in the car. As soon as I got into the car, we heard a loud noise. “Boom! Boom! Boom!”

“And my cousin came out screaming and screaming because she was working in the back,” Nina added.

And when Nina and her husband Robert went back to look around, they discovered that a red pickup truck had crashed into Harold’s Restaurant.

“I just thank God because it could have been us, you know?” Robert said. “God is good.”

According to the employee, a customer was hit while waiting in the lobby when a truck crashed into the glass windows. This client was seen being taken to the hospital. Chicago police confirmed that one person was injured, but his condition is unknown at this time.

For more information, ABC7 reached out to Chicago Police and Fire Departments.

Employees told ABC7 this wasn’t the first time a vehicle had crashed into their restaurant, and they had just repaired windows there after the latest collision. They said they hope to make a full recovery in the coming days.
