The father of missing Hannah Kobayashi was found dead less than a month after a desperate search for his daughter.

Ryan Kobayashi arrived Los Angeles where his 30-year-old daughter was last seen after she missed her connecting flight to New York, where she was scheduled to meet her family on November 8 – after flying from Maui, Hawaii.

It read: “The family of Hannah Kobayashi is urgently appealing to the public to continue to focus on the search for her. Hannah is still missing and believed to be in immediate danger. Everyone should remain vigilant in their efforts to find Hanna.

“The Kobayashi family experienced a devastating tragedy today. After 13 days of tireless searching in Los Angeles, Hannah’s father, Ryan Kobayashi, tragically took his own life life. This loss immeasurably increased the family’s suffering.

“What the family needs most at this difficult time is for all communities to rally around them with support, compassion and prayers. Please approach your comments and posts carefully. The trauma they endure is profound, and they now face the added burden of mourning the loss of a pillar of family and taking the next steps.”

It continued: “We kindly ask that the family’s privacy be respected during this period. Please refrain from contacting any family member, regardless of any previous connections you may have. Your understanding and cooperation are greatly appreciated. Give them space to grieve and get over this significant loss.

“I reiterate the family’s wish that the public’s focus will be on finding and safely recovering Hannah. If you see Hannah, call 911 immediately. Please take a photo if possible. Your quick action is crucial. If you can safely observe her until law enforcement arrives, please do so.”
