Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Mahmudul Hasan has warned of stringent measures against rogue groups involved in irregularities in the birth registration process.

Addressing the second meeting of the committee constituted by the Local Government Department to supervise the activities of the municipal corporation, Mahmudul Hasan stressed the importance of ensuring smooth birth registration process.

“Everyone involved must act responsibly to ensure the process runs smoothly and effectively. Strict action will be taken against corrupt people who have committed irregularities related to birth registration or the issuance of other certificates. DNCC judges will run mobile courts to address these issues,” he said.

Addressing public health concerns, he said, “Even though it falls in November, dengue cases still affect many people. Regular mosquito control activities should continue and surveillance should be increased.”

He added that citizens should also be made aware of the importance of keeping their homes and surroundings clean.

To ensure efficient management, the Local Government Department of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives established a 25-person committee.

The committee, which is headed by the DNCC administrator and the chief executive serves as member secretary, includes officers from various organizations and departments.

The committee established under the Local Government (Municipal Corporation Amendment) Regulations 2024 will assist the manager in the performance of his duties. Members will also take on responsibilities previously managed by councilors in accordance with section 25A of the Order.
