MNJTF and OPHK foil terrorist attack on Borno community – News – The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and world news

Soldiers of Sector 3 of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), in cooperation with Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), foiled an attack on the Kukawa community in Borno State.

According to the task force, terrorists from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) used a vehicle-based suicide improvised explosive device (SVBIED) to attack soldiers.
Intelligence sources told Maiduguri Zagazola Makama on Monday that the terrorists launched the attack using SVBIEDs, but soldiers responded quickly. Soldiers of the 101st Special Forces Battalion killed the terrorists in a fierce firefight.

Additionally, he added that the remaining surviving insurgents were forced to abandon their rifles and logistical supplies, fleeing towards Lake Chad. Makama reiterated that the troops received air support from the OPHK Air Component, which conducted precision air strikes against the retreating ISWAP terrorists.

In addition to the airstrikes, he said the reinforcement of the special forces battalion helped consolidate military dominance, forcing terrorists to retreat in chaos.

Soldiers also recovered several combat equipment during coordinated military operations in the Lake Chad region.

Military intelligence sources have warned that ISWAP may attempt to regroup, potentially attacking reinforcements or military posts with improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Therefore, he appealed to soldiers to be more vigilant.

“This was in anticipation of a possible attack on a military base in Malam Fatori, a border commune with Niger in Borno State,” Makama said.
