Bradley student dies after falling from home in rural Tazewell County

Senior woman at Bradley University died Sunday morning in rural Tazewell County after falling from a home outside Morton.

The Tazewell County Coroner’s Office said Samson Vlahos, 21, of Morton, was pronounced dead in the 27000 block of Lakeland Road at 8:39 a.m. Coroner Charles Hanley said authorities were alerted to the scene at 7:32 a.m. after receiving a report of an accident with fatalities.

An autopsy performed Monday revealed that Vlahos died from multiple blunt force injuries suffered when he fell from his home. Hanley said preliminary information indicates the fall was accidental and toxicology reports are still pending.

Bradley Interim President Jonathan Michael announced Vlahos’ death to students and faculty on Monday afternoon. In a statement, he said Vlahos was “well-liked by faculty and respected by his peers.”

In memory of Vlahos, flags on campus will be flown at half-mast for three days this week. The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case with the coroner’s office.
