Police say a teenager has died in a shooting in DeKalb County

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A 16-year-old died after being shot Monday night, according to the DeKalb County Police Department.

Police said they found the teenager with a gunshot wound to the chest at 300 Hatton Drive shortly before 6:20 p.m.

According to DeKalb police, the teen was taken to a hospital where he later died.

“Preliminary information indicates that the suspect was known to the victim prior to the shooting,” police said in a statement.

Police have not released the identity of the murdered teenager, information about the shooting suspect or what led to the shooting.
