A Kiwi was killed in an attack in South Africa, reports

Police spokesman Malcolm Pojie confirmed to the Daily Voice that the man was 49 years old and died at around 1.30pm on Friday on Mostert Street in Monte Vista.

Media reports that a Kiwi man has died as a result of a robbery in South Africa.

According to local media Everyday voicea man tried to stop a robbery in Monte Vista and was shot.

Police spokesman Malcolm Pojie confirmed Everyday voice the man was 49 years old and died around 1:30 p.m. Friday on Mostert Street in Monte Vista.

“We have reason to believe that the motive was a bank robbery, although the suspects fled the scene without loot,” Pojie said.

“The suspects’ vehicles were located and recovered at a parking lot in Parow.”

Everyday voice testified that the victims of the attack were the deceased’s parents – they returned from the N1 City shopping center with a large sum of money, and the perpetrators followed them.

A local resident told the media that the perpetrators shot the man after he threw a large hammer at their vehicle.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said consular officials were “providing advice to the family of a New Zealander who died in South Africa.”

“For privacy reasons, no further information will be released.”
