A fire breaks out in a Greater Noida factory, three workers are charred to death

Authorities said three people were charred to death after a massive fire broke out at a sofa factory in Greater Noida’s Beta 2 area on Tuesday morning. Police say the fire appears to have started during cooking.

The deceased was identified as Gulfam, 23, a native of Mathura; Majhar Alam, 29, and Dilshad, from Bihar, police said. The three of them stayed in a tin shed in a two-story factory.

“On Monday, around 8.10 a.m., a local alerted the fire control panel about a fire that broke out at the factory located at Location 4, Industrial Area in Beta 2. On receiving the information, five fire tenders were called to the spot,” Ecotech said. 1 fire officer Jitendra Kumar.

“After two and a half hours of continuous operations, when the fire was brought under control, it turned out that three people had been charred in the factory,” the officer said.

Pawan Kumar, deputy commissioner of police, Greater Noida, said, “While the fire brigade and police were checking the factory, the remains of three men were found in a tin shed at the rear of the two-story factory on the ground floor. floor.”

“The bodies have been sent for autopsy. Initial findings indicate that the fire broke out during cooking. As the room is at the back, they could not find an escape route and were charred due to suffocation,” ACP Kumar said.

Officials said the owner rented a small part of the factory to a man who made sofas and reclining chairs. “Gulfam, Alam and Dilwad were employed by their distant relatives in the production of sofas,” police said, adding that because the factory stored flammable materials such as foam and fabrics, the fire caught fire quickly.
