Harper Woods police are investigating a possible murder-suicide

The deaths of two people found Monday in a Harper Woods home are being investigated as a possible murder-suicide, according to the city’s Department of Public Safety.

Officers responded to the 18500 block of Kenosha around 1:30 p.m. Monday “in reference to a shooting that had just occurred,” the department said in a news release.

Authorities said a man and a woman in their 30s were dead when officers arrived.

“After speaking to witnesses at the scene, detectives determined that this was a murder-suicide resulting from a domestic violence incident. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims,” Jason Hammerle, director of public safety at Harper Woods, said in a statement. “We are in the early stages of the investigation but are confident there is no additional risk to the general public at this time.”

The incident was reported a month after a 26-year-old Warren man was arrested fatally shot by his mother.
