Father sentenced to life in prison for the tragic murder of his son

A Mumbai court sentenced a man to life imprisonment after finding him guilty of murdering his son following a family dispute. Accused Salim Shaikh was found liable for murder in 2018 after evidence revealed he attacked his son with scissors, resulting in fatal injuries.

The incident took place after a heated argument between Sheikh and his son Imran over his refusal to call Sheikh’s second wife “mother”. The victim’s mother reported the altercation to police, but by the time authorities arrived, her son was seriously injured.

The court rejected the arguments of Shaikh’s defense attorney, who claimed that the victim was under the influence of drugs and committed suicide. Instead, the court found significant evidence, including witness testimony, to convict Shaikh, highlighting the rarity of such cases of parricide.
