ALEA is investigating a fiery crash that killed a teenager and seriously injured another

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating a crash in Blount County that left one teenager dead and another seriously injured.

According to ALEA, on Sunday, October 27, at approximately 11:30 a.m., a 16-year-old was driving on Alabama 132 near the 9-mile marker in Blount County when their 2018 Chevy Malibu left the roadway, struck an embankment and caught fire.

At the time of the accident, the 16-year-old was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead.

Their passenger, a 15-year-old, was also not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

The 15-year-old was transported by helicopter to a local hospital for observation.

At this time, ALEA is unsure what caused this crash, but the investigation is ongoing.
