CENTRAL, LA (WAFB) – Police arrested a suspect they say was driving at nearly 90 miles per hour during a pursuit on Thursday afternoon, November 21.

According to the Central Police Department, the suspect, 28-year-old Kyle Ebey, is charged with aggravated obstruction of traffic on a highway, difficult escape from an officer, possession of CDS schedule I and IV, fugitive from EBRSO and multiple traffic violations.

Police said they received a report of a careless driver on Joor Road. According to authorities, Ebey was allegedly driving a Tesla and using the continuous left turn lane to pass other cars.

Officers said they located Ebey’s vehicle near Core Lane and initiated a police pursuit when he refused to stop. Police say Ebey was driving at speeds of nearly 90 miles per hour at times during the chase.

The chase was called off when authorities determined it posed too much of a risk to the public. According to Central Police, Ebey was later found while authorities were checking homes linked to license plates belonging to his Tesla.

Ebey was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail.
