Rosemead mother and boyfriend arrested for allegedly killing 1-year-old daughter

AND Rosemary mother and her boyfriend they were arrested in connection with the death of her 1-year-old daughter, the sheriff’s office said.

On November 9 at approximately 7 p.m., officers from the Temple Station responded to a home in the 2600 block of Strathmore in reference to a call of a child not breathing.

The officers found a one-year-old girl in a serious condition. She was quickly helped and taken to hospital.

Medical staff told officers the 1-year-old child had multiple injuries. The child had siblings who were placed in foster care.

On November 12, detectives arrested the child’s mother, 20-year-old Leslie Garcia and accused her with multiple counts of child abuse, including child abuse causing coma/paralysis.

On November 15, a one-year-old girl died and was still in the hospital.

After her death, homicide detectives quickly linked the woman’s boyfriend, 21-year-old Jonathan Salazar, to the case.

Salazar was arrested on November 22 on suspicion of murdering the child.

The case remains actively investigated and no further details have been released.
