Washoe County man sentenced to life in prison for sexually assaulting a minor

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – A man convicted on multiple sexual assault charges will spend the rest of his life in prison. The Washoe County District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday that 48-year-old Jaime Oseguera-Vega was sentenced to 247 years in prison. He was previously found guilty of five counts of sexual assault on a child under 14, two counts of sexual assault on a child under 16, two counts of sexual assault and one count of incest.

In March 2020, a Washoe County sheriff’s deputy began investigating an anonymous tip regarding known child abuse by Oseguera-Vega. According to the district attorney’s office, the victim disclosed that Oseguera-Vega began inappropriately touching her when she was 6 years old and then sexually assaulted her when she was 8 years old. She also told investigators that over the next 10 years he repeatedly sexually assaulted her and threatened to kill her if she ever told anyone about the abuse.

The victim eventually managed to escape from Nevada and report the abuse to law enforcement.
