A newly hired officer was fired after he was accused of sending nude photos to an underage girl

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG/Gray News) – Ohio authorities say a police officer was fired for allegedly exchanging nude photos with an underage girl.

Austin Sabo was arrested Wednesday for exchanging nude photos of an underage female, according to the Ottawa County Major Crimes Unit.

Walbridge Mayor Ed Kolanko said the officer was fired the same day Sabo was recently hired and was still on probation.

Sabo was booked into the Ottawa County Detention Center on charges of dissemination of harmful content to minors and illegal exploitation of minors in nude material.

Authorities from multiple law enforcement agencies executed a search warrant at an Oak Harbor-area home Wednesday as part of an ongoing investigation into child sexual abuse material.

The K-9 team found several devices that investigators treated as evidence.

Authorities said Sabo admitted to the charges during interrogation.

The Ottawa County Major Crimes Unit said anyone with information about child abuse or other crimes can contact them at 419-898-3155.
