A teacher accused of assaulting small children sparks outrage among parents and an investigation has been launched

SAN ANTONIO – A teacher at a Montessori preschool in Boerne has been charged with assaulting three 2-year-old girls in his classroom.

We have an exclusive interview with the family of one of these little ones.

“Three incidents happened in one day and I’m sorry but if it happens in one day then it has happened before and why wasn’t it caught earlier?” – said the parent of one of the young children.

The parents of one of the young children allegedly seen in the video did not want to talk on camera.

“Another kid brought this to my mother’s attention. My mother brought this to the school’s attention. The school then went to look at the incident and saw other incidents,” they said.

They claim they repeatedly tried to view surveillance footage that shows Alfredo Xavier Marmolejo allegedly aggressively grabbing one of the young children’s arm, then pulling him and hitting him against a chair.

The footage also allegedly shows Marmolejo punching another toddler in the side of the head, causing him to fall, and then punching him in the back of the head again.

“It’s been over a week. She said it could take a few days, maybe a week or two, to get all the permits, depending on how many children are in the photo. But we didn’t hear anything,” they said.

The statement said Marmolejo claimed he had problems at home, was stressed by his superiors at school and said his emotions got the better of him.

“Bad day or not, these are not your children. Parents bring their children to the nursery and know that they are in good hands. And if he was having a bad day, and that’s how he deals with bad days, he shouldn’t have taken the job at all,” said the toddler’s grandmother.

The toddler’s grandmother also didn’t want to be on camera, but she also didn’t want to stay silent.

“I want to ask myself, how many background checks did they do? Secondly, can we safely send her back or should we look for another daycare to take her to,” she said.

Excelled Montessori Preschool was inspected the day after the alleged beating and found no violations.

A daycare center was cited last November for allowing children to play outside in rainwater during freezing temperatures, a practice deemed risky to Texas health officials and society.

Marmolejo has posted bail and should be able to be released soon. However, the family believes he should remain in prison until a full investigation is completed and his parents are informed of the situation.
