Man accused of assault, arrested on weapons charges

UPDATE: Colin Monkman was arrested Wednesday afternoon after a member of the public spotted him on a BC Ferries vessel and contacted police.

Victoria Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man convicted of assault and possession of a firearm who is wanted on a Canada-wide arrest warrant for failing to comply with conditions of release.

Colin Monkman, 30, is believed to be in Victoria and frequents the city centre, Victoria West and the Burnside area.

Monkman is described as over six feet tall, of medium build, with black hair and brown eyes, and has tattoos on his face and neck that include a teardrop under his right eye and the letter “M” under his left eye.

He was last seen in the city center wearing a red T-shirt, black pants, a black hoodie, a black jacket and brown shoes.

Anyone who sees him should call 911. Call Victoria Police at 250-995-7654, extension 1, if you have information about his whereabouts.
