Naomi Long is calling on Alexander McCartney’s victims to come forward

During the investigation, prosecutors discovered one case that had tragic consequences.

In 2018, he sent a message to 12-year-old Cimarron Thomas in West Virginia, USA. After complimenting him and taking a photo, he began a campaign of harassment.

He demanded more photos of her and threatened to put her photos on the Internet and expose her if she didn’t do what he said.

She was scared and didn’t tell anyone what was happening to her.

McCartney kept following her and coming back for more photos, then told her she had to include her little sister in the photo.

She did not agree to this and declared that she would commit suicide. He set a countdown clock.

Cimarron shot herself in the head with her family’s legal firearm while she was still online with McCartney.

Her younger sister found her.

Tragically, 18 months later, Cimarron’s father, Ben, took his own life. When he died, he didn’t know the reason why Cimarron had taken her.

In a statement read to the court Friday, Cimarron’s grandparents, Peggy and Dale Thomas, urged parents “not to close the door to communication regarding the evil of some people online.”

McCartney pleaded guilty to the murder of Cimarron Thomas earlier this year.
