Seacoast Students of the Week achieve high achievement through school spirit

Top student-athlete who represents his classmates on the school council. Editor-in-chief of the school newspaper and advocate for students’ mental health, passionate about STEM and robotics. An honors student and cross-country runner who is the “epitome of a college athlete.” A student who spreads her joy through her work at the Happy Bean Cafe. A student-athlete who gives his all on the court and in the classroom. A National Honors Society student who teaches dance and contributes to the yearbook. Senior class president and teaching assistant in math classes who is “thoughtful, sociable and inclusive”.

Meet Seacoast’s students of the week on October 28

Seacoast Students of the Week are nominated by local principals, teachers and guidance counselors and, as you will see below, reflect a wide range of achievements in their schools and communities. We are pleased to introduce you to these outstanding students and look forward to sharing the stories of many of our other wonderful students in the coming weeks.

This week, students represent Portsmouth High School, Dover High School, York High School, Exeter High School, Somersworth High School, Spaulding High School and Oyster River High School.

All public high schools in the Seacoast area were invited to showcase their students’ achievements weekly as part of the Seacoast Students of the Week event.

Here are the Seacoast Students of the Week for October 28, as described by the school principals who nominated them:

Nathan Delaney, a student at Portsmouth High School

Nathan is a hard-working and dedicated student whose top priority is learning, as evidenced by his excellent grades in rigorous courses. Nathan’s is also an athlete and student body leader, not only participating in but leading other members of the student body. He is the student representative on the school board and does a lot for the PHS community, as well as the local community. He is a person who gives 110% in everything he does. His boundless positive energy and incredible work ethic are evident in all areas of his life and are contagious to all who work with him.

Hallie Brunson, senior, Dover High School

This week, Dover High School is recognizing senior Hallie Brunson. Hallie provides leadership and service to the school and community as Secretary of the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society, Key Club Liaison, and Vice President of the Women’s Empowerment Club. Hallie is passionate about robotics and serves as the team’s lead mechanic. She further pursued her passion for STEM by participating in the St. Patrick’s Summer Engineering Program. Paul’s School. He shares his passion through his work at Snapology. Deeply involved with the student newspaper The Tide, she served as head of design and editor-in-chief. Hallie participated in the HOBEY leadership program. She used the skills she learned there to support the mental health of the school and community, becoming a certified NAMI trainer. Hallie competed in unified volleyball and is a member of the track team. An excellent student, Hallie has a 3.9934 grade point average and is in the top 20% of her class.

Zoe Carroll, a student at York High School

Last week, Zoe placed 2nd at the Western Maine Conference cross country meet. She is also an exceptional student in both honors and AP courses. He is the epitome of a student-athlete.

Danniah Ostroff, senior, Exeter High School

Danniah has been a consistent, proud and hard-working member of the Happy Bean Cafe project for many years. She is a reliable person, always positive about her work and smiling at everyone she meets. She truly represents the happiness this project aims to spread. We know Danniah will bring these great qualities to every job in the future!

Paige Demers, sophomore, Somersworth High School

Paige is the definition of a student-athlete. He gives his all both on the court and in classes, putting his work before sport. She is a student who is confident in her abilities, but willing to ask questions if she gets stuck to make sure she has completed each task to the teacher’s expectations. He has high expectations and is a role model for his peers in the classroom. Actively participates in club activities, especially those that focus on supporting the school and community.

Madelyn Hackett, senior, Spaulding High School

Maddie Hackett is an outstanding SHS student, excelling in rigorous honors and AP classes, while also serving as vice president of the French Honor Society. For the last ten years, she has devoted herself to dancing not only as a sport, but as a passion, which she shares with younger students by volunteering at a local dance academy. Maddie’s involvement in academic and extracurricular activities is evident in her role on the yearbook team and membership in the National Honor Society. He also shows great school spirit, always supporting Spaulding and actively participating in school events. Despite his sometimes shy attitude, he leads by example with determination and kindness. Maddie works part-time and has a passion for traveling, which reflects her adventurous spirit. Her big heart and commitment to helping others make her truly deserve this recognition.

Amelia Rury, senior, Oyster River High School

Amelia is a very dedicated student who makes valuable contributions to class conversations. Her kind approach makes her an exceptional member of the class community and the entire school. He is a resource for his peers and is generous with his time and energy. Amelia is highly motivated to succeed, hardworking and a born leader. She has served as class officer for four years and is senior class president. Her class advisor says, “She is truly dedicated to doing what she can to support her class and raise money. He is the first person to volunteer for any fundraiser or event. She even managed to get a group of people together to go speedway on a Saturday in June, after the school holidays ended. She will hand out every leaflet, use her free time to help organize everything needed, and handles all social media for the class page, a leader and always eager to advance. As a person, she is caring, sociable, inclusive and mindful of the people around her. She’s really great to work with!”

Amelia has been a teaching assistant in various math classes where she works hard to help students learn. He is happy to help anyone and does it with kindness. Students feel comfortable asking her questions, and she is great at explaining difficult topics. He pays great attention to detail and goes the extra mile in everything he does. Amelia is a leader who raises the bar for her classmates. Amelia has been working at Mouth of the River (the school magazine) for three years. She is currently the editor-in-chief. He is passionately involved in the life of the school community and is an integral part of MOR’s success. Amelia as a very cheerful and determined young lady who sets high goals for herself and has the skills and discipline to achieve them. She is pleasant to be with and her honesty is beyond question. We are looking forward to Amelia’s achievements this year.
