Hyderabad, Oct 28 (PTI) The Hyderabad Police has issued bans on processions, dharnas and public gatherings in the city till November 28.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand, who issued the order, said that credible information had been brought to his attention that several organizations/parties were trying to create disturbances to disturb peace and public order in the city of Hyderabad by resorting to dharnas and protests.

According to the notification issued by Anand, in order to maintain law and order, peace and tranquility in the city of Hyderabad, gatherings of five or more persons, processions, dharnas, rallies or public gatherings are prohibited.

Individuals/groups of persons are prohibited from making any speech, gesture or display of images, any symbols, posters, flags and any kind of messages in electronic form etc. which may cause disturbance of peace and public order within the limits of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, it said.

However, peaceful dharnas and protests are allowed only at Indira Park Dharna Chowk and any dharna or protest anywhere else in Hyderabad and Secunderabad is not allowed.

The public is informed that any person violating the orders, especially in the vicinity of the Secretariat and other sensitive places, will be liable to prosecution under the relevant penal provisions.

The order will apply from 6:00 p.m. on October 27 to 6:00 p.m. on November 28.

It said that police officers and military personnel on duty, honest funeral processions, the flying squad of the Department of Education and persons or groups duly exempted by the competent authority were exempted from the execution of the order. PTI VVK VVK KH
