Trevon Diggs talks to a reporter who questions his efforts in a bizarre exchange

The Dallas Cowboys scored 21 points in the third quarter to the San Francisco 49ers Sunday night football on the way to another failure. They are currently 3-4 on the season, and somehow it’s even better Cowboys-y than usual when Jerry Jones thinks he can fire people he can’t fireMike McCarthy’s job is in danger and many other distractions.

Safety Trevon Diggs stood by that decision after he refused to talk to reporters in the locker room after the game, instead opting to confront reporter Mike Leslie about a rather sensible tweet. Diggs, showing more commitment to a laptop puncher than to an opponent, gave Leslie pause for questioning his route during a long party at George Kittle’s.

Here is the entire exchange for dramatic reading purposes.

DIGGS: “That’s what you took away from it? Out of all this play, that’s what you got out of it? You don’t know anything about football. You can’t do anything like me. You can’t go out and do nothing. Stay in your lane, buddy, stop picking on me, dog.

LESLIE: “I’m just asking a question, Trevon,” Leslie said. “I mean, I’m glad you answered the question.”

DIGGS: “That’s what you took away from all this art? Is that what you got out of it? Out of all this art, is this what you got out of it?”

LESLIE: “We can talk about this more,” said Leslie.

DIGGS: “Let’s talk about deez nuts.”

It all doesn’t seem real, and yet it’s recorded on tape for everyone to see. The Cowboys, flirting with complete free fall, lost the next game to make the mess more difficult to salvage, and task No. 1 for a key player was to track down the reporter who dared to question the play.

And his closer was a “deez crazy” joke.

It’s not going well.
