54-year-old son of Chhattisgarh DGP ends his life

The 54-year-old son of a retired Director General of Police (DGP) of Chhattisgarh, suffering from depression, committed suicide by pressing his wrist and chest at his house in Vaishali Nagar in Bhopal. He committed suicide on Saturday evening.

The deceased Tushar Shukla tried to commit suicide twice in the last two years. He clogged his throat and wrist veins with a razor, and family members rushed him to Hazel Hospital in critical condition, but he died before reaching the hospital.

Preliminary tests show that he had been suffering from depression for about two years and was undergoing treatment for it at the same time.

Police said statements from the family would be taken. Declarations could not be accepted at night. The razor that Tushar used to slit his throat and wrist veins could not be recovered.

According to police, the retired DGP lives with his family in Vaishali Nagar in Kamala Nagar. Tushar was married and has a son from his marriage.

On Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in his room, he silted up the vein in his hand with a razor. When he felt that cutting the vein in his hand would not kill him, he also slit his throat. As soon as his throat became clogged, he started bleeding profusely and when his wife Saumya Shukla saw it, she raised an alarm. The wife and son took Tushar Shukla to Hazela Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

He spent most of his time reading books related to literature and spirituality.

Family members told police that Tushar often read books on various topics. He spent most of his time reading books related to literature and spirituality.

Police said Tushar had been suffering from severe depression for two years and during this time he did not go out much or meet strangers. Tushar locked himself in his house and felt lonely even among his family.

The police said that due to the family’s situation, no investigation into the causes of the suicide was initiated. Tushar’s father’s family consists of his parents, wife and son. Tushar’s father became the first DGP on November 1, 2000, after the creation of Chhattisgarh. He headed the police till May 26, 2001. After retirement, he lived in Vaishali Nagar, Bhopal.
