The community mourns the loss of legendary coach Randall Leslie Broadhurst

CANYON, Texas (KFDA) – Canyon ISD says coach Leslie Broadhurst has died after a battle with aggressive brain cancer.

Canyon ISD Athletics said in a statement “It is with heavy hearts that we share the death of coach Leslie Broadhurst. Coach Broadhurst was more than a leader on the field, he was a mentor and a friend. Please keep the Broadhurst family in your thoughts and prayers.”

A GoFundMe page for the Broadhurst family has been set up by the Raider family and can be found Here.

Broadhurst coached the Raiders from the time Randall opened its doors in 1988 until his retirement earlier this year.

Many described Coach Broadhurst as more than just a coach. He was a source of inspiration and a rock of faith. His unwavering commitment to faith and passion for family and community extended far beyond sports.

During his career, he led the team to back-to-back state tournament appearances in 2023 and 2024, as well as nine regional tournaments and five regional finals.

In September, Broadhurst was inducted into the Randall Hall of Fame and was honored for all of his achievements.
