The Carolina Hurricanes have set a schedule for their injured goaltender

The Carolina Hurricanes were scoring hot start of 2024–2025 season from their starting goalkeeper, but they will be without him for some time. After suffering a lower body injury, the Hurricanes will be without goaltender Frederik Andersen from week to week.

Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind’Amour stated that Andersen has been re-evaluated and is expected to be sidelined from week to week.

Andersen played four matches what led to his injury, and has a 3-1-0 record with a .941 save percentage and a 1.48 goals against average. The rate of 1.48 is the best result in the NHL at the beginning of the season.

Many players were hoping for the Hurricanes to be sidelined ahead of the 2024-25 season, but Andersen helped them get off to a strong start to the season. After eight games, they are in fourth place in the Metropolitan Division with a record of 6-2-0.

To fill the vacant roster spot left by Andersen’s injury, the Hurricanes Spencer Martin recently recalled from the American Hockey League. Martin hasn’t played an NHL game yet this year, but he’ll likely get his chance with Andersen.

Martin played in six games for the Hurricanes after being acquired from the Columbus Blue Jackets in a trade last season. He was 4-1-1 in six starts.

The Hurricanes have a tough schedule ahead of them and Andersen is expected to be sidelined, but there will be no further games until mid-November. Their upcoming schedule is highlighted by three straight Metropolitan Division matchups starting in November, all at home.
