A burglary on Monroe Avenue led to a chase with a stolen car and an injured officer

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A burglary at a business on Monroe Avenue near Laburnam led to a police chase Thursday with a stolen car, an injured officer and two people in custody.

Rochester police responded to a report of a burglary around 5 a.m. and observed the suspects getting into a car. While trying to catch the driver, the officer leaned against the car as it accelerated. The officer suffered minor injuries and was released after being treated and released from the hospital.

RPD says the suspects abandoned the car on South Avenue after a short pursuit. It was there that officers detained 38-year-old Abraham Bradford and a 40-year-old woman.

The investigation determined that Bradford allegedly cut the garage lock and stole a table saw from the business before attempting to flee from police. He was taken to the Monroe County Jail.

The car involved was a 2014 Hyundai that was reported stolen from Greece. The passenger was released.

Bradford faces charges of assault, burglary, criminal possession of stolen property, criminal trespass, petty theft and multiple vehicle and road traffic violations. Bradford also has outstanding warrants from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office, Greek Police and Amherst Police Department.
