One person is dead and five injured in a shooting at a Halloween party in Shasta County

One person was killed and five others injured in a shooting that occurred during a Halloween party in Shasta County in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 27.

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) reported that at approximately 1:10 a.m., officers received a report of a gunshot victim at a residence located at 2100 Highway 299 East, Bella Vista.

It was determined that the incident occurred at the site of a large Halloween party. SCSO said Redding and Anderson police responded to the scene to assist. At the scene, SCSO said an 18-year-old man was found dead and five other adult victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Police said five adults were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The identity of the deceased 18-year-old is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

SCSO said the shooter was identified and questioned. The police assured that there is no threat to the public at the moment. The cause of the shooting remains under investigation.
