Dogs have a new home after their owner died by suicide in Cresson Court

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Some encouraging news has emerged following a tragic murder-suicide in south Bakersfield.

Two men died in a murder-suicide at Cresson Court on October 29. One of them was identified by a relative as Keith Austin Sr. His two dogs, Aqua and Tim, remained homeless.

The dogs were taken to Kern County Animal Services with an urgent need to find an adopter or they would be euthanized due to limited space.

According to shelter director Nick Cullen, Aqua and Tim found a new home on Tuesday. Yesterday he posted the adoption live on social media.

“Aqua and Tim were adopted and are now leaving the shelter. They are leaving together, they were adopted together and that’s why we wanted to show it to you. These dogs have become famous recently, largely thanks to TV-17’s report on this story.

Livestream video shows both dogs being loaded into the adoption truck and wagging their tails in excitement.

It was important for the shelter workers to find a home together because they were bonded by the fact that they had lived together for 10 years.
