Student of the week in Telegram and Gazeta

Student of the week in Telegram and Gazeta

It’s time to shine the spotlight on high-achieving students in Central Massachusetts.

There are three strong nominations for the Telegram and Gazette Student of the Week.

T&G asked high school principals, teachers and guidance counselors to nominate students they believe have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and community service.

The nominees are:

Summaries submitted by schools.

Drew Nieber, Oxford High School: Drew, a first-grader, is a caring and engaged student who strives to strengthen school culture through her role on student government, where she leads the beautification committee. With a creative vision and a strong sense of community, Drew works tirelessly to create a welcoming environment for all. In addition to his leadership, Drew is also a loyal friend, always ready to support and uplift those around them.

Andy Rosario Ramos, South High Community School: Andy is a kind and charming student who, in his final year of college, devotes time to supporting many teachers in their classrooms as a teaching assistant. (both English and ESL). As a bilingual student, Andy is a great help in translating the work of students who are still learning English and is a huge help in keeping students on track. Andy has taken on specific roles as a TA, taking attendance himself most days, checking the queue and waiting for the toilet, and supporting other ML students by understanding the topics and tasks to be completed in the classroom. Andy has grown tremendously since attending South High, and I believe he fully embodies our school’s core values by demonstrating respect, responsibility, resilience and a willingness to learn every day.

Kyle Sun, St. Patrick’s High School Bernard, Fitchburg: Kyle is very helpful and involved in many different aspects of life at St. Bernard’s. Whether it’s on STBTV, Mass, a pep rally, or photographing various school events, Kyle can always be seen devoting his time and talent to our school. In Latin class, Kyle spent many hours putting together a video project for the group, and when the teacher thanked him for his extensive work, he said, “I had the easiest part in the video, so I can do the hardest part. “He has an amazing positive attitude and gives spirit!
