NFL stats week 9, Justin Herbert

In case you missed it, my colleague Omar Navarro wrote a fantastic article last week on Joe Alt, detailing his development early in his NFL career.

So it’s no surprise that the Chargers’ 2024 first-round pick was outstanding again on Sunday.

According to NFL Pro stats, Alt didn’t allow pressure on any of his 38 pass-blocking snaps against the Saints. That’s the most no-pressure snaps allowed by a rookie over the last three seasons.

Alt faced New Orleans’ Carl Granderson after 16 snaps, including 13 1-on-1 reps. NFL Pro noted that so far this season, Granderson has been held without pressure on 10 or more tackles in one other game.

Week 8 was Alt’s first game without pressure allowed.

“Joe was really good in all phases. Play and pass,” Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh said Monday.

Harbaugh later added: “He was a football player. This is what comes to my mind the most. That’s truly the highest compliment you can give a footballer. He was great.”
